Digging out track and switches
The section of track next to the spillway has always been problematic after rain. Water drains down into the gutter on the left edge. When it overflows, water and mud collect on the track, fowling the swtich points and creating one of the most common causes of derailing.
Bruno led the effort to dig uout the track, replace the wooden ties and old ballast and finally install a french drain to really address the fundamental the problem. It took a tremendous physical effort to dig out the track and dig the trench for the french drain. But our monster man Bruno (ably assisted by Bill, Russ, and Kevin) were up to the task. Marty helped out too.
