Getting started on extending the Railroad from Lumber Camp to the Caboose to connect to the Trestle. Bruce explains that the gutter boards go in first, then base rock, then track, then ballast and raise the track to grade height. It was a lot of back breaking work back then, when we installed track one panel at a time. I think we had to cut and drill one rail on about 40% of the connections. Russ had to go back in and fill in the ties in the 16” of space between each panel. We now know it was not the fastest way to install and more hours per foot due to the time to assemble panels in the shop and move them. Bruce guarantees Rabbit flat will go faster per foot, but it will be in the sun
